2016 Recommitting to End Racism: Exploring Our Combined Destinies – Part III
Recommitting to End Racism: Exploring Our Combined Destinies Part III
Editors/Authors Ann Todd Jealous and Caroline T. Haskell will conduct Part III of this workshop related to their book, Combined Destinies: Whites Sharing Grief About Racism. This workshop is part of the NCBI series, Recommitting to End Racism, presented by the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) Monterey County and co-sponsored by the NAACP Monterey County Branch. Combined Destinies, a courageous anthology of 53 stories by white Americans, posits that unearned privilege has damaged the psyche of white people as well as their capacity to understand racism. Using intimate stories, some from writers who had never before spoken of these highly charged issues, Jealous and Haskell, both experienced psychotherapists skilled at facilitating dialogue about racial issues, will read selections from the book and offer the audience a chance to explore their personal experiences.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that you read Combined Destinies, which you received on March 12, prior to the workshop. If you missed one of the first two workshops in the Combined Destinies series, we ask you to contact one of the presenters in advance of the July 23 session.
Yes I will attend There is no fee to attend, however donations are encouraged to help ensure that our work toward the elimination of racism continues.

Over the years, we have reached over 20,000 Monterey County residents in hundreds of schools, businesses, government and non-profit agencies through trainings, workshops, consultations and programs, and by promoting dialogue and coalition building to address controversial issues at the root of conflict in our communities.
