What We Do
This series of workshops creates opportunities for dialog and provides participants with actionable skills to find common ground with friends, family, and community members. People from diverse backgrounds come together, learn about one another’s perspectives, and acquire skills to discuss challenging issues.
NCBI has partnered with many local social justice and advocacy organizations, including Monterey Peace & Justice Center, Middlebury Institute of International Studies, CSUMB, NAACP, LULAC, Building Healthy Communities, Whites for Racial Equity, Unitarian Universalist Church of the Monterey Peninsula, YWCA Monterey County, COLIBRI Racial Equity project, The Village Project, MILPA, National Compadres Network, and more.
The Generation Diversity School Youth Program is dedicated to training and ongoing support and mentoring of student leaders who play pivotal roles in the prevention of disenfranchisement, discrimination, violence and mistreatment arising in their schools and communities.
After completing Diversity Leaders Training, students work cooperatively to engage their peers through anti-prejudice “Welcoming Diversity” workshops, and act as resources to address diversity and conflict at their schools.
NCBI conducts Leadership for Diversity training, and has provided training and consultation for dozens of community organizations and public agencies, including Center for Nonprofit Excellence, Sun Street Centers, Rancho Cielo, and the 4 Cities United project for Law Enforcement in South Monterey County.
As a non-profit organization, NCBI is supported by donations. Thanks to support from friends of NCBI.
